Now or Never CampaignWhat is the current status of the club sale?
Club Corp of America, a Dallas-based company, has announced that it has entered into an agreement with Pulte Homes to sell the San Francisco Tennis Club. Pulte Homes plans to demolish the existing structure and build residential condominiums in its place.
Club Corp of America sent a letter to members on communicating the completed agreement and that it planned to stay open for the next 18-36 months during the estimated time frame for all due diligence to occur for the finalization of the sale.
What is the current status of SOSFTC and this "Now or Never Campaign?"
SOSFTC has kicked-off its "Now or Never" campaign to help rally the members of the San Francisco Tennis Club to join in its effort to save the San Francisco Tennis Club. The time is now to act and participate.
Why should I participate now/join the effort when we still have 18 to 36 months?
We do not have 18-36 months. We need to act now to communicate the importance of the San Francisco Tennis Club to the lives of the citizens of the local community and the Bay Area - we need to communicate this cause to local officials - this is our way to make a difference - this is how we can influence the process now rather than waiting until everything is signed, sealed, and delivered.
Do we really have a chance? Doesn’t the letter I received mean it is a done deal?
Yes, we have a chance. The letter states that Club Corp has entered into an agreement with Pulte Homes. This agreement is based on contingencies - the soil under the club has to be sampled, the area where the Club is located has to be rezoned, height and other building variances have to be obtained, and the rights of members have to be legally examined, and so much more due diligence has to be explored.
So what is your group doing about the proposed sale and what is your strategy?
The goal of the SOSFTC is to block the proposed sale of the San Francisco Tennis Club to any outside entity that plans to demolish it through a variety of activities - legal, community-based, political advocacy, etc. Our goal is to facilitate a buy-out by members to maintain an SFTC that hosts and sponsors local community recreational events and programs. Additionally, we plan to improve the current operations of the club and become an even greater part of the local community. We have just touched the surface under the current owner - we plan to reach much greater heights as a member controlled club.
What will the potential member owned SFTC look like? How much do I need to contribute?
SOSFTC is currently working busily to develop a business plan, including several scenarios regarding a professionally managed and member-owned club. When the plan is completed, we will present it to members, ask for additional feedback, and then communicate what it will take from each member to create an attractive offer to buy the club - a member controlled club.
What can I do to help/join the effort? I have a full-time job and a busy family life and I do not have that much time to give, but I still want to be a part of saving the club.
